OUR STORY

The idea and foundation for Audacia lies with the powerful duo of mother and son, Naomi and Loghan Call. Naomi has dedicated her entire professional life to making a difference in the world through a multitude of healing modalities for body, mind and spirit.

Having raised Loghan in an environment that cultivated a deep reverence for cooking, and the natural world. He has followed in her footsteps while carving his own distinct path in life.

Together they bring decades of experience in the food & beverage industry, digital media, herbal & nutritional medicine, and entrepreneurship. They have worked together on numerous projects over the years and have always intended to make their communities and environment better places through the work they do.

Naomi has an extensive background in creative culinary possibilities of the plant kingdom. From traditional herbal teas and tisanes to celebratory drinks for various occasions, she has experimented with alcohol-free beverages for years.

For Loghan, the desire to create a beverage to bring to market occurred when the pandemic wiped out his culinary catering business. During 2020 he did bartending to generate income and saw the real need for truly satiating non-alcoholic offerings.

In 2020 Naomi and Loghan began to experiment with the idea of creating a game changing non-alcoholic beverage offering. In many ways, they make a perfect pair with Naomi’s expertise of the herbal and plant world, and Loghan’s experience with flavor profiles and love for craft cocktails.

The duo was greatly helped by Roman Albaugh coming on board in late 2021 as a co-founder and advisor. Armed with years of experience in the bartending world, Roman helped fine tune the recipes and brought invaluable knowledge to the development of Audacia.

Audacia illuminates and elevates what Naomi and Loghan are most passionate about -  cultivating health and resiliency within their community and beyond. Together they have the audacity to believe in the magic of plant-based alchemy.

Loghan

  • Co-Founder & Shepherd

For as long as he can remember, Loghan has always oriented himself around making a positive impact in the world. His professional career started in broadcast journalism and media where he worked through every imaginable realm possible (sports broadcasting, local news, political offices, music, film, TV, non-profit work and more). Through this work he learned the art of storytelling, a talent that he has carried with him as he transitioned into the food & beverage industry.

He launched his own catering company Planted Cuisine in 2015 and quickly found success by translating the importance of soil health and how it relates to human health by creating “dinner experiences” in both public and private settings. His culinary journey led him from Los Angeles (where it was launched) to Southern Missouri and ultimately the Northern Michigan area.

Through his culinary journey he has witnessed firsthand how easily alcohol is abused and over-consumed both from a guest and an employee perspective. While he still enjoys mindful consumption of alcohol now, Loghan witnessed how a beautiful dinner experience and its positive impacts were being negated by the overindulgence of alcohol.

This, coupled with seeing so many others in his life and in the industry struggle with their relationships with alcohol, primarily due to the fact that there were no other viable (and enjoyable!) alternatives in the marketplace, led him to start experimenting with creating zero-proof cocktails for his dinner experiences.

It was at the start of the experimentation of zero-proof offerings in collaboration with his Mom, Naomi Call that led to meeting and working with Roman. Over the last four years, all of them have worked together and independently on this concept.

It wasn’t until 2020 and the onset of the pandemic when his catering business was shuttered that the opportunity to put all of his time and energy into r&d that Audacia officially took flight.

At Audacia, Loghan wears many different hats to bring our vision to life. His passion is in crafting the story and long term vision for what Audacia is and can be for the world. He is focused on how Audacia can truly be a conduit for reimagining drinking. As with everything he does, Loghan is dedicated to understanding the power of interconnectedness and how we can work together to strengthen our communities.

Outside of Audacia you will find Loghan bringing the same fiery passion into his personal life and play. He loves nothing more than bringing together humans in intentional settings and digging into the depths of what makes us human. From facilitating men’s work, to hosting episodes of “The House of Umami” podcast, Loghan is particularly fired up about creating more grounded and heart centered humans. Practically speaking he loves a good cup of black coffee, a well struck 7-iron and spending time with his partner Lizzie.

  • Co-Founder & Alchemist

Naomi, owner of Alchemy Farms and a clinically certified herbalist, brings a lifelong passion and fascination for the plant kingdom, and the art of alchemy. Naomi worked as a chef, certified nutritionist and teacher for over four decades, choosing to transform her degree in the arts into creating beautiful, nourishing plant based food.

In the 80’s she was a leader in the awakening of the food as medicine movement, envisioning and co-founding two educational centers. She has guided thousands of clients and students on a path to greater health and happiness here in the US and in the UK.

She is a Kripalu Yoga teacher, and a Findhorn Press and Gaia Books best selling author. Her deeply held relation with the triune of body, mind and spirit is infused into all of her work.

Her passion and activism for animal rights and the environment inspired her to produce and co-direct Called To Rescue a feature length documentary that is helping to redefine our awareness of farm animals as sentient beings, and illuminate the impact of animal agriculture on our precious planet.

She brings this incredible lifelong experience and dedication to Audacia Elixirs, which is a project and vision she has long believed to be a transformational product to bring into the marketplace and our communities.

At Audacia, Naomi is the alchemist. She guides all of our research and development of our elixirs, from sourcing, formation creation and production. It is her knowledge, passion and reverence for the plant kingdom that created the elixirs you enjoy today!

For fun Naomi is barefoot any chance she gets on a beach somewhere, she loves to walk, take photographs of Nature, play games and dance.

  • Co-Founder & Advisor

Roman comes to Audacia Elixirs with eight years of experience in the hospitality and beverage realm - beginning at the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach in 2014. He moved back to Traverse City in April of 2017 and started The Bartending Company shortly thereafter.

The Bartending Company is a liquid catering company that specializes in private parties and cocktail classes. The Bartending Co. is also a bar management company and has managed a number of brick and mortar businesses’ liquor licenses. This combination of experiences has provided an abundance of opportunities for Roman to get creative with: cocktails, seasonal menu creation, non-alcoholic offerings, themes, etc.

Naturally all of these experiences have provided Roman with plenty of unique and important perspective to the industry as a whole in relation to tackling a new project with Audacia Elixirs. Over the last few years in particular, he has noticed a substantial uptick in the desire for more sophisticated free-spirited offerings from clients in every type of environment and establishment.

Connecting with Loghan four years ago to create a zero-proof cocktail experience served as the launching point for diving into this world on a deeper level. Roman quickly discovered that not only did his extensive background bring valuable insight into this emerging world, but that it also provided the opportunity to bring new creativity and intrigue into the beverage world.

As co-founder, Roman has been instrumental in the development of Audacia. While not currently involved in the day-to-day operations of Audacia, Roman serves as an advisor and extension of our sales efforts. His expertise and enthusiasm is at the heart of our vision.

Outside of work Roman is often found carving up the dance floor, engaging in various physical activities including MMA, spending time with family & friends, anything in relation to practicing mindfulness and cultivating resilience (hello sauna and cold plunge!) and getting creative/dirty in all manner of ways (he is ridiculously capable of creating and fixing a wide variety of things!).
